Welcome!

In 2016, many Ohio Voters had their voter registration purged in what was determined by the courts to be an unconstitutional act. To make matters worse, investigators found wide variations in the integrity of data kept during the purging process by various county offices. As a result, the exact number of purged voters seemed to be impossible to accurately determine, further hampering efforts by the courts to correct the problem.

2017: The Ohio Purge Watch Project is started.

In response to the events of 2016 regarding voter purging, the Ohio Purge Watch Project was started with the goal of both informing about and protecting against voter purge actions taken at the state and county level. It seeks to accomplish this in 3 ways:

  1. Provide meaningful statistics to both highlight and quantify the amount of voter purging taking place in Ohio.
  2. Provide a "purge alert" service, where Ohioans can sign up to receive an email notification in the event that their registration is purged.
  3. Provide a downloadable list of all purged voters so that others may investigate any suspected abuses by the state or individual counties.

The first of these 3 items has been completed and is available on the stats page. The other two are currently being developed and should be available in the near future, so check back soon!
